Answer:
On the first visit, I will have a preliminary chat with you to determine your present and past health
and your lifestyle - this will give me an overall picture of you, the client. We can also discuss your
own issues and health concerns. Once you are comfortable in the reflexology I will use my hands to
apply pressure to your feet. The application and the effect of the therapy is unique to each person.
As a professionally trained reflexologist I will be able to detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet
and working on these points can affect the corresponding organ or system of the body.
Answer:
Where there are areas of congestion in the body there may be a little discomfort in those reflexes
in the feet. These areas can be worked on by the Reflexologist to try and relieve this congestion
but pressure will be reduced as necessary.
Answer:
After a treatment, you may experience more frequent visits to the toilet, a slight headache,
a little diarrhoea, a feeling of being more energetic or more tired than usual. These are all normal
reactions as the body is ridding itself of toxins released during the treatment but should clear within 24 hours.
The effect of the therapy is unique to each person, most clients note a sense of well-being and relaxation.
Some report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is transitory and part of the healing process.
It is important to feed back post treatment side effects as it shows how your body is responding to treatment
and allows the Relexologist to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
Answer:
Reflexology seems to be becoming a popular treatment to have during the ‘Preconceptual’
period and some clients who have had difficulty in conceiving find that after regular sessions they
become pregnant. This is usually in cases where there is no obvious cause to low fertility. The relaxing effects of
the treatment may contribute to balancing the hormones and this could be a reason for the good results. It is
always important during these sessions that lifestyle issues are also addressed such as nutrition and stress reduction,
and ideally both partners are seen. Reflexology cannot be offered in the first trimester. Thereafter the treatments are safe
as long as they are carried out by a Reflexologist trained in specialised maternity techniques.
Answer:
This is the client's choice. In some cases where the client has serious long standing health issues
the practitioner is very likely to recommend that the client refers to their doctor.
